Looking Back, and Forward Again

It was pointed out to me recently, that Yukon Cornelius was a bad ass. He carried a fixed blade, a revolver in an appendix carry, and a blunt instrument--all forward of the hips and readily accessible. Yes, the blade would be better off concealed and his revolver in a Tier One appendix carry holster under the shirt. But by and large, he was a man ready for any contingency.

2021 was a strange year. Regardless of what side of the political spectrum you fall, crime is up in most major US cities and that is not likely to change over night. You can approach this issue with rational preparation and perspective, or not--and live in fear, like a hunted animal on the Serengeti. So how to proceed? Continue to study how to break the human body with hands/blades/improvised weapons/firearms/or Cornelius' blunt instrument. To train mind and body to make the instantaneous transition to hunter should the situation warrant. To ratchet up your situational awareness to avoid potential problems and not let ego lead you down the path of poor decision making.

There is peace in knowing how to visit violence on another human being. And that sense of peace is what allows you to live and enjoy life in the midst of uncertain times. Take the challenge to make 2022 a year of exploration and increasing your skills. At the end of the day, we can all benefit from being just a little more like Yukon Cornelius. Happy New Year!
